Week 8 Events

November 13, 2016 – November 19, 2016

Alternate A.C.E. Reveal

For those who weren’t able to make it out last week, we had our alternate reveal on Sunday. Although it was smaller turnout, we now hope everyone has found their Anh or Chi or Em! We hope you’re loving your new families!

Viet Idol

Later on in the day, we rolled out to UCR’s Viet Idol, their annual singing competition. We came to support our very own general member, Albert Nguyen, who won first place! All proceeds from Viet Idol will be donated to the Vietnamese American Cancer Society.

Eggroll Fundraiser

To kick off the week, we sold eggrolls on Library Walk on Monday, November 14. We fried the eggrolls on the spot so they were super fresh. Also, thank you to Hien’s Grandma for making our eggrolls!

Cultural Movie Night

On Wednesday, we had our Cultural Movie Night. We showed Chàng Trai Nǎm Ấy, which translates to Dandelion. This movie showed some comedy, friendship, and family, a perfect movie for some bonding! There was also free kettlecorn to share!

Modern Workshop (ft. Kinjaz’s Charles Nguyen)

On Thursday, we held our second Modern Workshop in preparation for Vietnamese Culture Night. Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, we had to cancel Charles Nguyen’s workshop, but Kevin Dang’s and Jovan Limosnero’s workshop still continued! Kevin Dang taught his piece to the song “Make Love” by Chris Brown. Jovan’s piece was also to a Chris Brown song, “Everybody.”

SDSU Film Festival

On Friday night we “film fest and chilled” at SDSU’s Fourth Annual Film Festival. This year’s theme was Deception, but it was pretty obvious that we all had a great time! Our very own general member, Austin Huynh, won best actor! All the proceeds from the Film Festival will be donated to the Catalyst Foundation.

A.C.E. Family Day

On Saturday, we went outdoors for A.C.E. Family Day! A.C.E. families came out for some quality bonding on our hike at Torrey Pines. We also went down to the beach to get our feet wet (or shoes)! We hoped everyone had fun!
